It鈥檚 often said that 鈥渃ollege is what you make of it.鈥 At Malone, whether you and your friends create your own traditions or participate in those that have been around for generations, we hope that you will enjoy making them your own!
Some Malone traditions have been around for decades, like Chaos Day, Airband, Christmas Dinner, and Davenport Derby. Others, such as RezHallPalooza or Alternative Gift Market, have been established in more recent years.聽

Get to know Davenport Derby
How many colleges race decorated couches every year? Certainly not many. We believe it鈥檚 one of the most unique traditions on any university campus.聽The annual Davenport Derby kicks off the fall semester. The event got its start back in the 1950s when Malone students raced beds up and down the street.
Fast forward to today, and this competition of the couches celebrates Malone student’s creativity with themes, coordinated entrances, music, costumes, and, of course, sublime sofas tearing down the racetrack on wheels.

We did lipsync before it was trendy! One of Malone’s most beloved traditions, Airband puts you and your friends center-stage so you can shine.
Since 1993, student teams have performed with elaborate costumes, breathtaking choreography, and spot on lip-syncing skills to compete for the prestigious golden sneaker聽trophy! From Broadway鈥檚聽Lion King聽to superheroes to the Blues Brothers to our famous campus squirrels, the annual Airband competition is an entertaining way to take a study break and finish the year!
